Fried chicken is one of the world’s best foods. We have so many fast food versions but most of them can be done better at home. With the addition of some orange juice, you can add some zest to your chicken and make something amazing. It’s a fried orange chicken recipe that’s easy to make and gives you the opportunity to do even more if you want to. It’s a crunchy and juicy meal all in one bite.

Fried orange chicken tips

For the juiciest chicken ever, marinade your chicken pieces in buttermilk or yoghurt overnight. Remove the excess and then dredge in the dry ingredients. You can still make an egg mixture to put the pieces through before adding to the flour. The addition of panko or corn flakes crumsb ads some extra crunch to the party. It’s doubel cooked chicken goodness with a punch of lemon flavour. Serve with light green salad.

Ingredients

  • 6-8 6-8 chicken pieces

  • ½ cup ½ flour

  • 1 tsp 1 salt

  • 1 tsp 1 garlic salt

  • ½ cup ½ Corn flakes or panko crumbs

  • ½ tsp ½ Pepper

  • ½ tsp ½ paprika

  • 1 cup 1 orange juice

Method

  • Mix the dredge ingredients together in a plastic bag.
  • Toss and coat the chicken pieces.
  • Fry the chicken in hot vegetable oil until golden brown.
  • Place in an oven dish and cover with orange juice.
  • Bake in a 190°C oven for about 20 minutes or until done.
