It is the season of winter sports and your friends are still coming over this weekend. Give them snacks to go with their drinks and enjoy the company. You don’t need to worry about what to give them, because not only are these homemade crunchy onion rings perfect for the snack table, they go great with a steak or any braai goodies. Onion rings are a staple of game-days and are a must-have next to dishes of nachos, chicken wings and other fried foods.

Tips for your crunchy onion rings

You can slice the onions as thick as you want to, but remember to remove any membranes from the rings otherwise the coating won’t stick. Also, make sure that you’ve dried your onion rings well. You can substitute your milk mixture for buttermilk or eggs too. If you want some spice, add some paprika or cayenne pepper to your dry mix for a punch of extra goodness. If you think you don’t have enough for the crowd, you’re probably right, so make more.
