You can even decide to prepare these creamy chicken livers for breakfast for a nutritious start to your day. Simply top the chicken livers with a fried egg and you are ready for an action-packed day.

Alternatively, enjoy these chicken livers on freshly toasted bread for an any-time snack during the day.

Chicken livers are packed with essential nutrients. They are rich in protein and a powerful source of important vitamins and minerals. Surprisingly, chicken livers contain vitamin C. Muscle meat does not contain vitamin C but organ meat does.

Other vitamins you will receive while enjoying creamy chicken livers are vitamins K, A, E and a variety of B vitamins. All the more reason to include chicken livers more regularly in your diet.

Ingredients

  • 500 g 500 cleaned chicken livers

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • barbeque spice to taste

  • 200 ml 200 fresh cream

  • 1 1 onion, chopped

  • 1 clove 1 garlic, crushed

  • 30 ml 30 butter

  • fresh parsley

  • 1 1 French loaf, sliced and buttered

Method

  • In a saucepan, heat the butter. Fry the onions and add the chicken livers.
  • Season to taste and cover for 15 minutes.
  • Add the garlic and cream. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with parsley.
  • On a grill, toast the buttered French bread.
