Cinnamon butternut – Fragrant side dish ready in no time

An exceptionally delicious side dish enhanced with the warm tone of cinnamon.

Add some warmth to any meal with this delicious cinnamon butternut side dish. The rich notes of cinnamon add that special extra to the butternut making it exceptionally delicious. This simple side dish is ready in just over 30 minutes and will compliment any main meal you decide to serve it with.

There are so many great reasons why you should include butternut more often in your diet. It contains vitamin A which is important for eye health. It further supports the natural function of your immune system. Having some digestion problems? Try eating more butternut as it is loaded with fibre and helps to prevent constipation. Ingredients

  • 1 1 butternut

  • ¼ cup ¼ brown sugar

  • 4 tablespoons 4 butter

  • 10 ml 10 cinnamon

  • garnish

Method

  • Cut 6 thick or thin slices from the butternut. The remaining butternut may be frozen for future use.
  • In a pot, add the butternut, butter, sugar and 250 ml water and cook for 20 minutes until tender.
  • Remove from the heat, let it cool and add the butternut on a baking tray. Sprinkle with cinnamon and let it bake in the oven at 180°C for 10 minutes.
  • Sprinkle garnish and serve as a side dish with the preferred main course.
