Boerewors spaghetti – South African meal in one pot

Make sure you get a good quality boerewors for the ultimate taste experience. This boerewors spaghetti is very similar to spaghetti and minced meat but in this case, you use boerewors. Simply remove the boerewors from its casing and start cooking up a storm!

This easy meal is perfect to prepare for those days when you realise the clock has already hit four o’clock and you have not had a chance to even think about dinner yet. And your hungry teenagers already start asking you what’s for dinner.

Combining boerewors with spaghetti makes for a filling meal that will leave everyone around your table full and satisfied. And the best part is that you can prepare this meal in less than an hour. Just what you need on a busy day!

  • 400 g 400 (1 can) Rhodes Quality Tomato Italian

  • 1 1 onion, chopped

  • 500 g 500 boerewors

  • 2 cloves 2 garlic, crushed

  • 330 ml 330 prepared chicken stock

  • 250 ml 250 water

  • 250 g 250 spaghetti

  • salt and freshly cracked black pepper

  • To serve
  • grated parmesan cheese


  • Remove the boerewors sausage meat from its casings and break it into chunks.
  • Heat a large saucepan, and fry the boerewors meat until it begins to brown.
  • Add the onion and the garlic and fry until onion the onion softens. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the Rhodes Quality Tomato Italian Style, prepared chicken stock and the water. Bring the sauce to a boil.
  • Add the spaghetti. Cook over medium heat, stirring regularly to prevent sticking, for 15 minutes or until the pasta is cooked, adding extra hot water to the saucepan if necessary.
  • Season to taste.
  • Just before serving, sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
