With so many types of pasta around the world, it can be hard to choose which to try next. There are some simple recipes that are perfect for a hearty evening meal. Our bacon and mushroom spaghetti is as simple as it sounds. With some crunchy bacon bits and meaty mushrooms, you have some great flavour and nutrients in no-time. The recipe is also the perfect opportunity to get creative and enjoy every meal you make.

Bacon and mushroom spaghetti tips

For the best results with your bacon, fry it with a tiny bit of fat in a warming pan instead of already hot. This will help render the fat better for more crisp. Don’t forget to save some of the pasta water. When the spaghetti is ready, place the bacon and mushrooms in a pan with the pasta, and slowly add some pasta water. This will help with thickening the sauce from the creamed mushrooms. You can also add some cherry tomatoes to the dish as well.

If you’re using fresh mushrooms, you can add some cream to the mixture before finishing.

Ingredients

  • ¼ packet ¼ spaghetti

  • 3 3 rashers bacon

  • 2 small tins 2 creamed Mushrooms or fresh mushrooms

  • 1 1 green pepper

  • 1 1 onion

  • parmesann cheese

  • Salt and black pepper

Method

  • Fry bacon, green peppers and onions until brown.
  • Add creamed mushroom cook for 5 minutes.
  • Serve over drained spaghetti with grated cheese sprinkled on top
