It is said that the world’s ‘strongest beer’ should only be enjoyed in ‘small doses’, with a recommended measure of 35ml.
A beer made by Brewmeister has been branded as the ‘strongest beer in the world’ and is definitely not for the faint-hearted as it can only be enjoyed one shot at a time.
According to Ladbible, the strongest beer in the world has an ABV (Alcohol By Volume) content of 67.5%. The fortified beer, Snake Venom is actually a beer brand from Scotland’s Keith Brewery Ltd and has become one of the brand’s most sought-after beers ever since 2013.
In a round-up of the strongest beers in the world, manyofmany.com writes that Brewmeister created Snake Venom using everything from smoked peat malt to two types of yeast during production to achieve that high alcohol volume. Such an astounding ABV was also reached by freezing the brew multiple times during fermentation.
“The amber-style ale is strengthened so much that the result is something that tastes a little more like a spirit, with the alcoholic content to match,” the publication writes. “Snake Venom is more than 15 times stronger than most other beers.”
The 330ml bottles are specially designed – and when purchased – you will receive a letter of authentication and explanation attached. Customers are only allowed to purchase a maximum of two bottles at one time – in order to help beer lovers ensure they’re drinking responsibly.
According to its listing on Drink Supermarket, the site Brewmeister uses to sell the beverage, the beer has a “sweet, nutty aroma, a fruity flavour and fiery, intense finish”. The beer lacks carbonation due to its high ABV, meaning the beer has a ‘smooth taste’.
With being branded as the ‘world’s strongest beer’, it doesn’t come cheap as one bottle sells for almost R1 000.
Wherever the beer is sold, warnings are issued which states: “This beer is not for the faint-hearted, it is recommended to enjoy in small doses of 35ml measures. We are not responsible for the risks you may take and don’t encourage you to be the hard man!”
