Last week, Checkers announced news of their status as the official product stockists, selling the popular energy drink for just R40.

Before Checkers launched the energy drink in its shops, it was sold at various exclusive import shops around the country, while many resellers bought the drink in bulk and sold it at inflated prices, with the crazy escalated pricing ranging between R400 and R900 for a single 500ml bottle.

Much to the delight of local consumers, Prime hit the shelves at Checkers on Monday, 1 May to great fanfare. Many shoppers braved long queues and even the risk on stampedes to get their hands on the energy drink, which come in four flavours — Ice Pop, Blue Raspberry, Lemon & Lime and Tropical Punch.
