Why yes, three members of the Springboks team are here, too.

As bargain hunters all across the country look to jump on FlySafair’s generous R4 ticket offers, many of us were subject to a rather bizarre waiting room.

Tickets have sold out for the promotional offer, as South African’s made the most of this outstanding campaign. Initially, the draw was set to stay open until 17:00. Yet unprecedented demand brought things to a close before midday.

Tens, maybe even hundreds of thousands of people flocked to the website on Thursday morning. This was no first-come, first-served operation though. Anyone who enters is left in a “virtual waiting room”, where visitors are drawn at random to go through to the R4 ticket screens.

Who is in the FlySafair online waiting room?

Whether you were let in or left frustrated, we all experienced the same trippy affair. In fact, some of South Africa’s rugby players turn up for no apparent reason.

Elton Jantjies, Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira and Malcolm Marx are all chilling there. Jantjies is having the time of his life, blankly staring into his tablet.

In the animation, Marx was briefly seen with a phone bigger than his head, before the animation changed. As for Beast, well. He’s walking and waving. Not being very beast-like at all. We think he just wants his R4 flight like the rest of us do.

Frustrations started to get the better of the website’s users, leading to everything from a case of mistaken identity to sobering realisations…
