Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are hoping to make history on Friday (7 February) by attracting the highest attendance for a tennis match at Federer’s Match in Africa charity event in Cape Town. They are hoping to raise more than $1 million (over R14 million) for the Roger Federer Foundation that supports early childhood education in six African countries and Switzerland.
Yes, the two of them are set to go head-to-head at the Cape Town Stadium on 7 February 2020 with Trevor Noah and Bill Gates joining in for some fun.
Federer and Nadal had a light warm-up on the Grand Parade in Cape Town ahead of the event.
Before starting their match, Roger revealed the stadium to his fans with a short video posted on his social media channels. With that, he mocked Nadal’s ultimate prowess on the clay court.
“Hello everybody. I’m in Cape Town. Just got to the tennis court or football stadium. Have a look… amazing! And we’ve got the orange color, for Rafa, so that he feels like he’s on clay. But it’s hardcourts!” Federer said.
