The Miss Universe pageant is taking place in New Orleans on Saturday 14 January at 19:00 CT (03:00 Sunday 15 January South Africa. Here’s where to watch the pageant live in South Africa.

WHERE TO WATCH MISS UNIVERSE IN SOUTH AFRICA 

It’s almost time for the Miss Universe finale and Miss SA Ndavi Nokeri will be representing Mzansi on the international stage.The pageant will be taking place at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States.

India’s Harnaaz Sandhu will pass down her crown to her successor at the end of the evening. South African viewers can watch the pageant live on 1 Magic (DStv Channel 103) from 03:00 on Sunday 15 January.

SOUTH AFRICA’S RECENT SUCCESS AT THE MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT 

  • 2021 – Lalela Mswane, second runner-up
  • 2019 – Zozibini Tunzi, crowned longest reigning Miss Universe
  • 2018 – Tamaryn Green (Green-Nxumalo), first runner-up
  • 2017 – Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters (Tebow) crowned Miss Universe

Ndavi revealed that longest-reigning Miss Universe Tunzi has given her some advice.

“It has been wonderful meeting my fellow contestants face-to-face and getting to know them. My preparations are on track and I’m working hard. Zozi (Tunzi) has given me advice that I have taken to heart – to be confident and to be my authentic self,” she said according to the Miss SA organisation.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE PAGEANT 

  • Miss Universe 2022 will be the 71st edition of the pageant. Contestants from 84 countries are competing in the pageant.  
  • The pageant will be hosted by Jeannie Mai and Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo. 
  • Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and entertainment reporter Zuri Hall will serve as backstage correspondents. 
  • This marks the first time in the pageant’s 70-year history that there has been an all-female presenting panel and will also be the first edition of the pageant to be held under the ownership of the Thailand-based JKN Global Group which purchased the Miss Universe Organization rights from WME/IMG last year.
