HOW TO TAKE EXTRA CARE OF YOUR HANDS THIS WINTER

As the most exposed part of your body, your hands are constantly exposed to harsh environmental factors such as UV rays, pollution, and weather changes.

If you’re an avid gardener and your hands are often in the soil and working with plants, fertilizers and gardening tools, this can also increase stress and strain on the skin of your hands. That’s why taking care of our hands and maintaining their health and beauty through natural, kind skincare products and techniques is essential.

Here are five tips on how to take care of your hands:

KEEP YOUR HANDS CLEAN AND GERM-FREE

Regular hand washing is crucial to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria, but it can also cause dryness and irritation. It’s important to wash hands with natural/organic wash to ensure no harsh chemicals or abrasive ingredients are present. Avoid very hot water, which can strip your skin of natural oils. Always dry your hands thoroughly, especially between your fingers.

PROTECT YOUR HANDS

Wear gloves when you’re doing household chores, such as washing dishes or gardening. Exposure to harsh chemicals and detergents can damage your skin, so opt for eco-friendly cleaning products that won’t harm your hands or the environment. Wearing gloves can help to protect your hands from irritation and dryness.

EXFOLIATE YOUR HANDS

We exfoliate our face, so why not our hands? Dead skin cells can accumulate on the surface of your skin, making it look dull and rough. Regular exfoliation can help to remove these dead skin cells and reveal smoother, brighter skin. Use a gentle exfoliating scrub once or twice a week to keep your hands looking fresh and soft. Always moisturise afterwards.

DON’T FORGET A HAND MASK

Ever thought of applying a mask to your hands like you do to your face? It can do wonders for deep hydration and to keep your hands in tip-top condition where they always look healthy and glowing. Next time you apply your natural face masque, remember to apply to your hands as well and give them all the love and attention they deserve.

MOISTURISE REGULARLY

Apply natural cream or lotion after washing your hands or whenever your hands feel dry. Look for moisturisers that contain natural ingredients such as shea butter, jojoba oil, or coconut oil. These ingredients can help to hydrate and protect your skin from dryness and cracking. Always include your nails and cuticles in all of the above tips and techniques.

In addition to using natural, kind skincare products and techniques, it’s essential to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. Eating a balanced diet rich in fresh veggies and fruits that contain vitamins and antioxidants can help nourish our skin from within, helping the skin on our hands too. Drinking plenty of spring or filtered water also helps to keep our skin hydrated and healthy.
