Thato Mosehle was crowned the second runner-up at the Miss Supranational pageant last night. Here’s how she made history.

Medical doctor Thato Mosehle made history at the 12th edition of the Miss Supranational pageant held in Malopolska, Poland on Saturday 21 August. 

THATO MOSEHLE MAKES HISTORY

While Miss SA Shudufhadzo Musida will compete in the Miss World pageant in December, Miss SA first runner-up Thato Mosehle represented South Africa at the Miss Supranational pageant in Poland and Miss SA second runner-up Natasha Joubert competed on behlaf of South Africa at the Miss Universe pageant in May.

Namibia’s Chanique Rabe was crowned the 12th Miss Supranational at the event on Saturday 21 August while Thato Mosehle was the second runner-up and Puerto Rico’s Karla Guilfú Acevedo was the first runner-up. 

Although Thato Mosehle did not bring home the title, she still made history as the first woman of colour to represent South Africa at the Miss Supranational pageant, the first to compete under the Miss SA banner and the first to make it to the top three.

Thato Mosehle took to Instagram to express her excitement and gratitude for representing Mzansi internationally. 

“The most valuable thing you can hold onto is relationships❤️. Through having similar goals, passions and dreams, women connect instantly in pageantry. Some of my closest friends I’ve met through pageants. I’m sooo happy I got to interact and connect with 57 women from different countries. I will never forget you,” wrote Mosehle.

“This one is for you South Africa!!! ????????????????????????. Thank you for believing in me. I hope I made you all proud,” wrote Mosehle.

“This one is just for the gown????. @anelbothac I am in awe of your work! I’ve never felt more beautiful in my entire life! Thank you so much ❤️,” wrote Mosehle.

MZANSI SHOWS LOVE TO THATO MOSEHLE

South Africans were extremely proud of Thato Mosehle and took to Twitter to express how proud they are of the African queen.
