RIHANNA’S COAT, A NOD TO THE LATE ANDRÉ LEON TALLEY

The 34-year-old Riri stunned in a tight-fitting red ensemble paired with a coat resembling the late André Leon Talley’s iconic Norma Kamali blanket coat, MailOnline reports.

Although her red coat wasn’t the same one worn by Talley, fans took it as a tribute to the fashion journalist and former editor-at-large of Vogue magazine.

Even the late Talley’s official Instagram account acknowledged the homage.

“When the sun shines, we’ll shine together. Told you I’ll be here forever… said I’ll always be your friend”. @badgalriri 🎈the account posted along with a photo of Riri in her coat and Talley in his.

Fans initially thought the Barbados-born star bought the piece from the late editor’s Christie’s auction. It was however confirmed that the jacket was custom Alaïa.

The late editor’s Instagram account also shared a throwback video of Talley and Rihanna, with the caption: “Living for Half Time.”

The fashion icon and former Vogue creative director Talley passed away at a hospital in White Plains, New York at age 73 in January 2022. He reportedly died of a heart attack. A longtime friend confirmed he passed away from COVID complications.

LADY IN CUSTOM RED

The Fenty creator wore all red for her iconic performance.

Rihanna took to the stage in a red Loewe jumpsuit and bustier. She paired the look with scarlet Maison Margiela X Salomon sneakers and a cropped red puffer jacket by Alaïa. She later switched it out for a longer version, similar to Talley’s, MailOnline reports.
