When the female rapper took to Instagram that she’s about to release a footwear line with Rock & Co Footwear, her fans were nothing but over the moon.

According to the Daily Sun, a friend of the rapper told her that the brand was looking for someone to partner with and she jumped at the chance.

“A very good friend of mine told me they were looking to work with someone. The things I love the most are hair, shoes and nails,” said the rapper.

The rapper’s love for shoes came from her mother’s tough upbringing.

“My mom grew up very poor. She had her first pair of shoes when she was seven and didn’t even know which shoe went on which foot. For her to witness her daughter getting into this is the biggest joy,” according to IOL.

Seems like Gigi’s fans will be lining up to get a pair. Will you be getting yours?

ARTISTS’ FASHION COLLABORATIONS

Fashion brands are collaborating with artists to create brand awareness. Recently, media personality and media mogul, Bonang Matheba collaborated with Steve Madden for a line of shoes and now it’s Gigi’s turn.

“We’ve seen artists collaborating with brands, but you don’t see equity. Brands can change their minds. With us, this is pure equity. Every time a shoe is sold, I get money from it,” she said.

It’s black girl magic in the shoe industry right now and it’s Africa’s time.
