Despite South Africa winning multiple Miss Universe titles, 2023 representative Ndavi Nokeri is a favourite to take the crown, and rightfully so!

The 23-year-old, who hails from Limpopo, is a “hot contender” and has received praise from both pageant insiders and judges.

The Miss Universe pageant takes place on Saturday, 14 January in New Orleans, USA .

Like the women before her, Ndavi Nokeri is well-articulated and can command the room when she speaks.

“She has communication skills, performance, and the overall aura of a winner,” pageant expert Luis Portelles said of her.

“No matter how many times they change the format, South Africa has mastered how they prepare their candidates,” fellow pageant lover Alvin Sebetero.

Showcasing Mzansi’s minorities

Ndavi Nokeri is a proud Tsonga girl and wants the world to know it.

She told Tshisalive of her Miss Universe national costume: “I almost got so emotional when I went out there because I really wanted to represent my Tsonga culture in the pattern and main piece of the dress.

“I wanted my Tsonga people to feel proud, and the two African wings showed that South Africa and Africa are on the rise.”

World-class exports

Besides beautiful and talented South African exports like Bonang Matheba, Thuso Mbedu, and Sho Madjozi, Mzansi is also home to previous Miss Universe winners like Margaret Gardiner, Demi-Leigh Tebow, and Zozi Tunzi.
