Namibia’s Chanique Rabe was crowned Miss Supranational at the 12th edition of the beauty pageant that took place in Malopolska, Poland on Saturday, 21 August.
Here are five things to know about the beauty queen.
1. SHE IS A FASHION DESIGNER
The official reigning Miss Supranational holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion. She recently launched her own brand called Nami Nami. She also opened two sewing schools in her home country, Namibia.
“My passion for the fashion industry does not end there as I am proud to have started two junior sewing schools right here in Namibia. These children’s willingness to learn is my biggest inspiration in life motivating me to be a productive and goal-driven individual,” said Rabe in her Miss Supranational introduction video.
2. FIRST AFRICAN WOMAN TO WIN ‘MISS SUPRANATIONAL’
Chanique Rabe made history as the first African woman to bring home the Miss Supranational title.
“Namibia, we did it! ❤️???????? I am honoured to win the first Miss Supranational crown for Africa!,” wrote Rabe on Instagram.
“It is still sinking in… All I can say is THANK YOU! Thank you to the @misssupranational organization for giving me this opportunity and thank you to everyone for every single message, phone call and gesture! A big congratulations to all the contestants, what a wonderful journey it has been,” she continued.
3. SHE WAS CROWNED MISS TEEN CONTINENTS
Chanique Rabe was crowned Miss Teen Namibia in 2014 and went on to represent her country at the Miss teen Continents pageant in Texas in 2015 and won the title.
4. SHE STUDIED IN SOUTH AFRICA
The beauty queen attended FEDISA Fashion School in Cape Town where she graduated with her fashion degree in 2018, followed by her Honors degree in 2019.
5. SHE COMPETED FOR THE ‘MISS SUPRANATIONAL’ NAMIBIA TITLE
Chanique Rabe was crowned Miss Supranational Namibia in November 2020 after she bested 12 other candidates.
“It is a privilege to be your Miss Supranational Namibia 2020. ????I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait for a reign of excitement and purpose,” wrote Rabe on Instagram.
