Male grooming is all the rage. And during the hotter summer months, your skincare routine might need an overhaul. During the colder months, our skin and hair tend to lose moisture, and giving your skin and hair an excellent daily start is essential.

But don’t fret. Glowing skin doesn’t have to take hours. Thanks to FINO Cosmetics‘ helpful tips, it’s easier than you think.

MALE GROOMING IN FIVE EASY STEPS

1. CLEANSE TWICE A DAY

It is no secret that cleansing is essential to your daily grooming routine, especially during summer. Your face and beard may get sweaty during the day, so always wash your face thoroughly before bed and when you wake up to remove any excess oil and impurities. Skipping this crucial step may lead to breakouts and blackheads.

2. CONSIDER GROWING A BEARD

Did you know that beards protect skin from harmful UV rays? Studies have shown that beards can act like physical barriers between your skin and the sun — protecting you from harmful UVA and UVB rays. But this doesn’t mean you can skip the SPF. Beards also can keep you cool and protect your skin from the harsh effects of wind (think Cape Town’s South Easter!).

Plus, a lot of women find beards attractive…hint, hint.

3. ADD A BIT OF OIL

Unlike popular belief, oils are not just for winter. They can moisturise skin and hair all year long. Did you know that some beard oils are not just super moisturising for facial hair, but also moisturise the skin beneath the beard?

Apply good quality beard oil to your facial hair twice daily for maximum moisturising benefits.

4. KEEP BUMPS UNDER CONTROL

Whether you’re shaving regularly or just want to shape and trim your beard for a neat and tidy look, chances are you may ocasionally experience some razor bumps and discomfort. Invest in a good rescue serum to help reduce the appearance of razor bumps.

5. DON’T FALL VICTIM TO INGROWN HAIR

No matter your hair or skin type, anyone can get ingrown hairs. While these can be painful, itchy, and unsightly, they may also become more severe if not treated. They may lead to bacterial infections, scars, and hyperpigmentation. A good rescue serum, often used for razor bumps, will do wonders.
