Kgothatso Dithebe: The MODEL WITH THE MARK

Dithebe has made the top 10 of the 2021 Miss SA pageant for the second time and is motivated to win the crown this time around. The law student who represents Ice Model,s wants to make a difference and give a voice to the vulnerable.

Next time you think of yourself as an imperfect person with flaws, know that the person you think is perfect also has a flaw! Be yourself. Add value in the world by being yourself; you bringing something that was never there before, she says in a Angelopedia article.

Uniqueness of birthmark and bullying

Dithebe had to deal with a lot growing up with her facial birthmark but embraces its uniqueness. She explained why she’s entering Miss SA once again:

“My life story was not always easy, but sharing it with the entire nation and trying to make a difference is what I stand for. I have seen how bullying and cyberbullying is rapidly increasing in our country, which leads to a lot of suicide and mental health issues. Being someone who was bullied, I know what that feels like. I took a different route and I want the nation to see itself in me,” she told K Daniells Media.

She mentioned in the same article that her biggest disappointment to date was missing out on the 2019 Miss SA crown and the experience made her grow personally and in her career.

“I bounced back by blocking out negativity and worked on myself, my growth and my mental health. I became positive and attracted positivity. I booked campaigns and television commercials. I am even on billboards and in magazines,” said Dithebe.

Her growth is clear to see as she bought her first property this year, according to her Miss SA profile on the website. The profile stated that she enjoys going to the gym, playing netball and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.

REPRESENTING TSHWANE IN MISS SA TOP 10

Dithebe could be considered an experienced campaigner in this pageant and her 2019 disappointment will allow her to be calm going into the crowing of this year’s Miss SA.

The finalists will have their shot at the crown on Saturday 16 October at the Grand West Arena in Cape Town.

‘I believe in second chances’

Two days ago, Dithebe turned to her Instagram account after the announcement of the Miss SA Top 10 finalists.

She says that she’s truly grateful to have another shot at the coveted crown:

“I am truly grateful to be given this opportunity once again. I came back because I am resilient and I believe in second chances.

“Failure to me means trying again and this time with experience. I want women to know that they are strong, worthy and capable of anything they put their minds to. To never let any circumstances determine their future.

“I want to be the voice and give them hope. For every young girl/ women to see me and know that anything is possible,” she said.
