Digital publishing company Between 10 and 5, in collaboration with Facebook, launched the campaign in which they identified the seven Instagrammers who will be providing fashion inspo every day.

Dubbed the Instagram Heroes campaign, the aim is to seek out, showcase and celebrate creative excellence through the best of Instagram in sub-Saharan Africa.

Here are the Instagrammers who were chosen to showcase the best of South African fashion.

Stuurman is a motion picture and live performance graduate of Afda and an award-winning contemporary multimedia visual artist. He was born in Kimberley, and has worked with local and international A-listers such as Black Coffee and Naomi Campbell, as well as Vogue.

He was also involved in Beyoncé’s Black is King movie.

His Instagram feed shows his contemporary African style with an edgy twist.

Burger is an entrepreneur, editor and style icon who has worked in the fashion industry for more than 25 years. After completing her tenure as editor of Elle South Africa she wanted to create “some place of magic” through Salon 58, a space where women can meet and be entertained in an atmosphere of camaraderie.

“I am a mood dresser, opting for style choices that portray reinvented classics, treasured vintage finds and menswear styling; all with an important style disposition of sustainability, individuality and authenticity,” Burger said.

Her Instagram feed not only shows how fashionable a classic wardrobe can be, but is characterised by the power and impact of ageless style and dressing.

Mothoa is an interior designer and freelance stylist based in Johannesburg. Her nature-driven, colour-popping feed will surely inspire your own fashion and photography ideas.

Youthful-looking fashion icon and owner of her own label, Sisi, Furmie’s Instagram feed is the go-to guide on how to look fabulous in your 50s. Her bio reads: “Life is too short, do what you want, do what you like and never act your age.”

Furmie was also part of L’Oreal’s Age Perfect campaign that celebrates women with an ageless attitude.

Park-Ross is a 36-year-old qualified fashion designer and stylist who has an in-depth understanding of clothing, construction and fabric, and how to use these tools to bring out the best possible version of yourself.

She has worked in many roles in the fashion industry, and won awards. Her passion for fashion was ignited as a child.

“I’ve been obsessed with clothing and textiles since I was a baby. When I had a sleep I didn’t have a favourite teddy, I had pieces of fabric that my mom overlocked that I used to rub on my face,” Park-Ross said.

She runs “Loving the look babe” on Instagram, where she shares styling tips and hacks. Her Instagram feed is sure to bring you a variety of looks for the season, also through her IGTV videos.

Yoliswa Moleboheng Mqoco is a Cape Town-based plus size model, content creator and social media influencer. In 2019, she won the Best Disruptor Influencer award at Cosmopolitan South Africa’s Cosmopolitan Influencer awards.

The aesthetic of her feed looks photoshoot-worthy, with Cape Town’s beauty always making a cameo.
