Even if this means dipping your entire face into a bowl of ice-cold water.

The beauty hack has gone viral on apps such as TikToker and promises those who try it younger and firmer skin – something many people pay hundreds and even thousands of rands to achieve.

Popular TikToker Laura88Lee shared a clip of herself during the dipping process and claims it holds a number of benefits which include:

  • Reducing oiliness
  • Boosting a healthy glow
  • Improves superficial wrinkles and
  • Decreases symptoms of anxiety

Some of the app users even say that doing the ‘ice trick’ will help to shrink those pores that have been bugging you.

The downside of it all

While it promises many benefits, there are some downsides to the ice dipping hack.

According to IOL, it can cause serious damage to your skin, especially if you have dry or sensitive skin, resulting in ice burns, redness, and itching.
