Zelda La Grange – the private secretary of the late Nelson Mandela – has been harshly criticised for praising Eskom boss Andre De Ruyter following his shock resignation on Wednesday, 14 December.
The outspoken woman – who once maintained a close relationship with the former president – shared her controversial views on Twitter.
ZELDA LA GRANGE THANKS ANDRE DE RUYTER
In a tweet that went viral, Zelda La Grange praised the Eskom Group Cheif Executive (GCCE) for his controversial tenure.
She tweeted: “Ande de Ruyter, thank you for trying. You took a job no one wanted. Now you know why”.
On Wednesday, De Ruyter announced his resignation following months of intense public scrutiny. The former Nampak CEO joined the energy company in December 2019.
Surprisingly just hours earlier, Zelda expressed her frustration at Eskom’s load shedding schedule.
She tweeted: “Make this make sense. Loadshedding 2hrs, 4hrs, 2hrs, 2hrs. So when the power is on, everything electrical gets plugged in, charged, and used, e.g., the severe strain on the grid…?”
