‘SQUID GAME’ SEASON ONE SUCCESS

Netflix’s Squid Game is currently one of the streaming giant’s most successful series. The South-Korean drama reached 82 million households on its debut on 17 September. By October it had drawn in over 12 million fans around the world.

The series inspired Halloween outfits and Squid Game remixes from several musicians including German-Russian DJ, Zedd. The series also inspired people to recreate the playground games.

“When I was working on the project the goal was to rank No 1 on the Netflix US chart for at least a day. But it ended up being much more successful, the most-watched show on Netflix ever. It’s very surprising. It shows that the audience is resonating with the message I wanted to reflect,” said Hwang Dong-hyuk.

‘SQUID GAME’ SEASON TWO

In an interview with AP Entertainment, Dong-hyuk shared that there has been so much demand for a season two. “So I almost feel like you leave us no choice,” he added.

“I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen. So I will promise you this…”

“Gi-hun will come back. He’ll do something for the world.”
