Free music to your ears: Who will be on stage at Fȇte de la Musique Joburg?

The Fȇte de la Musique festival is on the horizon and festival organisers have announced the headliners! Fancy The Brother Moves On, BLK JKS and Maleh?

Some of South Africa’s finest talents are lined up for the Fȇte de la Musique Joburg festival on 18 September. After the festival was postponed last year due to COVID-19, one can now look forward to letting your hair down and putting on your finest spring outfit for this year’s affair.

Fȇte de la Musique is a free music festival held in celebration of World Music Day and has been taking place in South Africa every year since 2010. Jazz, soul, funk, rock, electro, reggae, classical music and many other musical styles form part of the exciting annual event.

FȆTE DE LA MUSIQUE HEADLINERS

Cultural attaché for the French Embassy in South Africa, Selen Daver, has said that the Fȇte de la Musique has grown to become one of the most anticipated concert experiences among music festival lovers in Johannesburg. 

“After the postponement of last year’s event, we are happy to be back again, this time in four different locations, with limited capacity to ensure everyone’s safety. Our goal is to make live music accessible for all while giving young musicians a space to reach a broad audience.”

The music festival will be headlined by Sama award-winning songstress Maleh, The Brother Moves On, BLK JKS and jazz trumpeter Mandla Mlangeni who has appeared on both local and international stages before.  

OTHER ARTISTS PERFORMING AT FȆTE DE LA MUSIQUE

There are several other artists lined up for the festival, from DJs to singers, there’s something for everyone at this year’s event.

The music festival will also see performances from the likes of Melo B Jones, Bobo Jay Nzima, Mx Blouse, Andee, Sun Xa Experiment, Manu Grace, Basadi ba Mintsu, DJ Binz, Ikati Esengxoweni, LaliBoi, Shotgun Tori and the Hound, Sibusisio Mashiloane, Simba Ci, Spokenpriestess and Tshepang Ramoba.

THROWBACK AT 2019

The highly anticipated music festival will take place on Saturday 18 September on four different stages in Johannesburg and in Soweto. 

The venues lined up for the event are Victoria Yards in Lorentzville, Alliance Française Johannesburg, Newtown Junction and Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum in Orlando West, Soweto.
