WHAT IS AFROTECH?

One can think of afrotech as a fusion of house music and techno sounds. Picture listening to a smooth house track over a banging techno beat.

DJ Shimza has previously released afrotech songs that have had South Africans on their feet, dancing along in local clubs so it’s certainly one of those genres you can listen to anywhere, anytime!

DJ SHIMZA’S AFROTECH REMIXES

Star producer and entrepreneur DJ Shimza is one of Mzansi’s brightest talents. Shimza has always won crowds over with his unique afrotech DJ mixes.

Shimza took to Twitter to announce the release of a three-track project he titled amapiano afrotech remixes. In his tweet he wrote, “dropped three afrotech remixes of my favourite amapiano tunes! Do check them out and let me know which one moved you.”

The amapiano hits that Shimza has remixed include DJ Maphorisa and Tyler ICU’s Banyana, DBN Gogo’s Khuza Gogo and Kwiish SA’s LiYoshona

DJ Shimza has collaborated with some of the biggest names in entertainment. Shimza was featured on Prince Kaybee’s hit Uwrongo, featuring Ami Faku and Black Motion. Shimza also remixed Musa Keys’ amapiano hit, Vula Mlomo, earlier this year.

After Shimza had posted a video of another DJ playing an amapiano set, DJ Maphorisa had insisted Shiza play amapiano, to which he responded; “You’re trying so hard”.

With his amapiano remixes who knows? Shimza could surprise us all and make an amapiano song. You can listen to all the tracks here.
