It’s that time of the year again! The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on 17 September at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

When and how to watch the 2018 Emmy Awards ceremony in South Africa:

The 2018 Emmy Award ceremony is set to air on MNet (DStv channel 101) on 18 September at 02:00.

An additional airing will take place on 18 September at 21:00, which means some of your favorite primetime television episodes on MNet will be delayed for that night; The Blacklist, Animal Kingdom, and Strike Back will be off air to accommodate the prestigious awards show.

This year Saturday Night Live’s duo Colin Jost and Michael Che will host the award ceremony.

Emmy Awards 2018: The main storylines going into the award show

After a year of ineligibility, the hit show, Game of Thrones return with a total of 22 nominations for its seventh season, including best drama.

Another HBO drama, Westworld, follows closely behind with 21 nominations, while last year’s best drama series winner The Handmaid’s Tale drew a total of 20 nominations.

While HBO is still proving to be popular, the streaming service Netflix led the way with 112 nominations, snapping HBO’s 17-year streak of being the most nominated network for TV’s most coveted prize.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah bagged three nominations in the ‘Outstanding Variety Talk Series’, ‘Outstanding Interactive Program’ and ‘Outstanding Short Form Variety Series’.

This year, Noah is up against Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and Britain’s James Corden.

Last year, Noah won in the Best Short Form Variety Series category for his YouTube comedy special, The Daily Show: Between the Scenes.

Additionally, Sandra Oh made history as the first Asian actress to be nominated for best lead actress in a drama series, ‘Killing Eve’.
