On Sunday evening this week, President Cyril Ramaphosa braced himself to address the nation after three weeks of a nationwide adjusted level 4 lockdown.

While the president made various important announcements around the state of the country and how we will be moving forward on adjusted level 3 lockdown, many South Africans were left feeling distracted by Mr President’s makeup.

On the evening of Sunday 25 July, President Cyril Ramaphosa once again held a “family meeting”.

The president spoke of a number of things such as the sale of alcohol sales and COVID-19 relief grants that will be reinstated. Many of the things that Ramaphosa mentioned were highly welcomed by social media users who are obviously relieved to hear that there are some sort of action plan regarding the state it has been left in by both COVID-19 and the recent instances of looting and rioting.

A lot of South Africans wasted no time heading to various online platforms where they discussed everything our president had to say. One thing that had a lot of locals buzzing was the fact that they would not be able to get their drink on. For this, they were clearly very thankful.

Another hilarious thing that was on their mind was Ramaphosa’s “heavy” face of makeup. According to many social media users, the makeup artist that was put in charge of touching up his face before his speech, was a little heavy-handed. Read a few of their comments about it below:

“Some people are actively sabotaging @CyrilRamaphosa. Tonight it’s the makeup artist #FamilyMeeting”

@Azandamashenge said:

“Dear Mr President @CyrilRamaphosa I am extremely not happy with the way you look today. I would love to be your makeup artist. Please kindly grant me that tender. Yours Sincerely. Azanda”

Despite getting dragged for his makeup, the president received many praises for his efforts in helping the country recover.
