Cristiano vs Messi: Footie fan pays R44m for VIP ticket

A diehard football fan has forked out over R44 million to see Cristiano Ronaldo play against Lionel Messi in a friendly match via their respective teams, Al-Nassr and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)

In what has been hailed the “world’s most expensive ticket,” a Saudi businessman has secured his spot to watch the highly-anticipated match and meet his soccer idols in person.

CRISTIANO VS MESSI

In the friendly match, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to make his debut in the Saudi Arabian club as it plays on its home turf. The former Manchester United player will captain the All-Star XI – made up of members from Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal.

The club will play French club PSG, which is home to soccer stars like Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar.

The match will take place on Thursday, 19 January, at the King Fahd International Stadium.

WORTH THE PRICE?

Following the hype of the match, Turki Al-Sheikh, the head of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, auctioned a ticket to watch the stars play. The deal includes the chance to meet Cristiano, Messi, and their respective teams.

Businessman Musharraf bin Ahmed Al-Ghamdi ultimately won the auction, coughing up R44 million, which will be donated to various charities.

According to The Sun, the ticket has been hailed as the “most expensive in football history.”
