A young couple has managed to go viral on Twitter. This was after they shared how their elaborate scheme saw them getting some freebies from one of London’s fanciest hotels. It all started with an engagement ring and fancy outfits…

Many Twitter users have been left divided by the young couple’s devious scheme.

Many establishments are known for their generosity with customers who are celebrating special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and engagements. Because of this, a lot of people have scored themselves a free ice cream or meal by pretending to be celebrating a special day.

A young UK woman Rhian Smith and her boyfriend Harry Collins took things up a notch when they pretended to get engaged.

Taking to her Twitter page on 3 December this year Rhian first shared how she was planning on using her mom’s ring to get some freebies at The Shard, one of London’s fanciest hotels.

“Borrowing me mom’s ring to get a hotel room upgrade and a free dessert at The Shard tonight. ‘We just got engaged can we please get a bigger room’,” she captioned the post with some laughing emojis.

It seems their mission was successful because she later shared some snaps of themselves all dressed up at the hotel. They also had their free dessert on a plate that read “congratulations”.

Netizens are both impressed and appalled

The post amassed over 7 000 likes from social media users who apparently loved to see that the scheme went down smoothly. Not everyone thought the devious act was worthy of applause though.

LadBible reports that one person even referred to the couple as “cheap b*tches” while another person wrote:

“Bet @TheShardLondon @ShangriLaHotels are loving having the p**s taken out of them!! #theshard #liar #fake.”
