Johannesburg Metro Police cops have been hailed heroes after they helped a stranded woman on a dangerous Joburg south highway. The young mother of three had run out of petrol on the highway when the officers stopped to offer her some much-needed assistance.

JMPD cops hailed heroes after helping stranded mom

Officers Zakhele Mashego, Zenzele Hlatshwayo, and Vhutshilo Rasilingwane have all been dubbed heroes after they helped a stranded woman and her children out of a potentially dangerous situation.

According to Jacaranda FM, the cops were on their way home from a hard day of work when they saw a car parked on the N12 in Eldorado Park – a road known for hijackings and other crimes.

Instead of passing by, the suspicious cops got out to find out why the car was there.

To their surprise, they found a mother and her three children who were stranded on the dangerous road after their car ran out of petrol.

Unfortunately, the mother could not afford to buy petrol herself and so one of the cops volunteered to go and get petrol out of their own pocket. They only left once the mom and her kids were safely on their way again.

Heading online, the JMPD tweeted proudly about the incident which took place on Monday 31 May this week:

“Last night whilst knocking off #JMPD #RegionF1 Officers came across a lady & 3x kids whose vehicle was stuck on N12 in Eldorado Park which is a high risk of area for hijacking & mugging. Officers bought petrol to ensure the safety of the lady & her children. Great work done :star2::clap:
