Constantia restaurant named one of the world’s best fine dining restaurants
A restaurant in Constantia has been crowned the sixth best in the world according to the 2018 Travellers’ Choice Awards by TripAdvisor.

A restaurant in Constantia on Silvermist Estate has been named one of the world’s best at this year’s TripAdvisor Traveller Choice awards.
La Colombe has made it to the international rankings two years in a row, moving up from seventh position to sixth.
According to Eat Out, TripAdvisor, the crowd-sourced review site determines its awards using an algorithm that takes into account the quantity and quality of reviews for restaurants around the world over a 12-month period.
La Colombe’s reviews range from “Fantastic fine dining experience” to “Fabulous”. The restaurant is managed by the acclaimed executive head chef James Gaag, who has won several competitions, including the Sunday Times and Show Cook among others, reports Cape Town Etc.
La Colombe is known for their French cuisine and received an overall 4.5 average out of 2, 695 reviews on TripAdvisor.
“We highly recommend dining at this very fine restaurant,” reads one of its reviews. “Wonderful enticing and strikingly different modern deliciousness! Presentation great.”
“I had the reduced menu without the wine pairing and let me tell you it was plenty! Dishes made with love and spectacular detail,” said another diner. “Friendly staff and a beautiful view. Every single dish was a surprise and just tasted right. Would go back any time!”
This year, Au Crocodile in Strasbourg, France, took the number one spot. They also received a 4.5 average out of 1, 309 reviews.
Martin Berasategui in Lasarte, Spain came in at number two with “the best combinations of flavors we have ever experienced.”
El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain took the number three spot.
Restaurant Sat Bains Nottingham in the United Kingdom took fourth place.
Restaurante Benazuza in Cancun, Mexico took fifth place. It is said that the restaurant is suppose to be a “great adventure”.
