“Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic” – that’s the word a Comrades Marathon runner used to describe himself when put on the spot by a roaming reporter.

And although the word does not officially exist in English, it has been trademarked, according to the Urban Dictionary.

VIEWERS AMUSED BY RUNNER’S ENGLISH

The unidentified man was pulled over by a Supersport presenter who was keen to find how he was faring in the gruelling Comrades Marathon

The white presenter showed off his Sotho skills, beckoning the man to respond. But to his surprise, the man revealed that he was more than ok.

“I’m Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic”, he said nonchalantly.

According to the Urban Dictionary, the word was coined by singer Isaac Hayes, and is open for interpretation.

A day before, a clip of another Comrades Marathon runner’s response had viewers in stitches.

When asked by a SABC reporter how he felt about the pending race, the man answered: “It’s going to be difficult, but it’s going to be a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious run”.
