BUSINESS EMPIRE AND CONTROVERSY

Chivhayo rose to prominence after winning several government tenders through his company Intratek Zimbabwe. In 2017 he made headlines after he was controversially awarded a multi-million rand contract with Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC).

The contract later saw him being nabbed. However, he was later acquitted of misappropriating $5.6 million (R106.27 million) for the abortive 1000MW Gwanda Solar Project.

Sir Wicknell Chivhayo is one of the wealthiest business tycoons in Zimbabwe. He lives lavishly and is unapologetic. At some point, he single-handedly sponsored the Zimbabwe national football team.
