Usher has shown some love to Kabza De Small’s tunes as he danced to the South African DJ and record producer’s amapiano hit Sponono in a Versace advert.

The track is from Kabza De Small’s second album, I Am The King of AmapianoSweet and Dust, and features Wizkid, Burna Boy and South African musicians Cassper Nyovest, as well as his Scorpion Kings collaborator DJ Maphorisa.

The famous American singer, songwriter, dancer and actor posted a video of himself dancing to the hit song in an advert for Versace on his Instagram account which boasts nine million followers.

Mzansi was more than pleased at Usher’s choice of music and headed over to the comments section to show their appreciation. Cassper Nyovest also dropped in to express his excitement.

“Danko!!!!!! South African Music To the world!!!!” wrote @casspernyovest.

DJ Maphorisa also took to Twitter in praise of amapiano:

“Thank you for playing our African music bro????” wrote @ntathumdlankomo.

“Amapiano is reaching out to the world ????????Love for SA” wrote @humphreymoyo30.

“Dlala piano????????????” wrote @blavk_web_spider.

“Oh Usher knows about this song…” wrote @msfitqueenuk.

This is not the first international artist however to recognise the talent of Kabza De Small. Not too long ago, Sean “Diddy” Combs was also jamming to one of his hits. He also posted a clip of him dancing to Focalistic’s Ke Star on his social media.

After all the hype caused by Usher’s Instagram post, Tweeps took their shift to voice their thoughts.

“I know Burna & Wizkid had bigger ish poppin, but as a fan of African music & meaningful African collaborations.. them not acknowledging Sponono wasn’t cool, such a slept on record which could’ve been massive across continent. But hey, what do I know Man shrugging S/O Kabza, Phori & Nyovest,” wrote @BridgeBossTLee.

“The content I signed up for: South African musicians taking over the world and featuring on Reels, IG stories and TikTok videos of their fellow international entertainers and artists,” wrote @_manaileng.

“Today, Usher is using Kabza Da Small song. Just the other day it was Alicia Keys and Diddy playing Focalistic,” she added.

Another Tweep added that Rihanna is also rocking Busiswa in an ad for her Fenty Beauty brand.

However, Busiswa feels more robbed by this than anything. Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty brand launched a new product using a song in the background that was very similar to Midnight Starring featuring some of South Africa’s finest artists: DJ Maphorisa, DJ Tira, Distruction Boyz, Rude Boyz, as well as Moonchild Sanelly and Busiswa.

Busiswa retweeted the post, claiming that the brand used a remake of the song to side-step paying the artists.
