Controversial musical artist and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) activist Ntsiki Mazwai is trending on Twitter after saying actress Thuso Mbedu is “over hyped” via a tweet, earlier today (8 August).

NTSIKI’S THOUGHTS ON THUSO MBEDU

Ntsiki Mazwai, who is known for voicing her unapologetic opinion on Twitter has landed herself in hot water again. This time it’s after she said that Amanda Black gives her goosebumps while South African actress Thuso Mbedu does not. She went on to say that she thinks the Underground Railroad star is “over hyped” because she is in America.

Thuso Mbedu’s career has been on an upward trajectory and Mzansi is proud of their “little sister”. The actress received praise from veteran talk show host Oprah Winfrey and South African-born actress Charlize Theron. She is also set to star alongside Academy award winning actress Viola Davis in The Woman King.

However, Ntsiki does not share the same sentiments.

“Guys I have a confession to make….. Amanda Black gives me goosebumps…..but Thuso Mbedu doesn’t AT ALL. AT ALL. I think she is over hyped only cos she is in America I apologize to all those I offend,” wrote Ntsiki Mazwai on Twitter.

TWEEPS ARE UPSET AT NTSIKI

Twitter users were not happy with Ntsiki’s remarks and expressed their polar opposite opinion in the comments section of the post.

“Ausi Ntsiki, Thuso Mbedu is young and she can use your support as a big sister. Ladies odds are against you, please support each other,” wrote a Tweep.

“As an Actress I have to disagree with you. Thuso is a great actress. When coming to addressing social and political issues, she’s not that strong,” wrote another Tweep.

“I have to disagree. From the local programmes she’s been on, Thuso is an incredible actress. One of the most. I’m glad that we exported someone who is incredibly talented instead of,” wrote a Tweep.

NTIKSI RESPONDS TO BACKLASH

Ntsiki Mazwai acknowledged the backlash she had been getting following her tweet and said that Tweeps get offended when she doesn’t comply with their media favourites. She also said she was going to mute the tweet.
