‘First time I saw you act, you killed it’: Tweep takes stab at AKA ‘tell-all’

Ouch! A tweep claims ‘Nandi’ is not the first time he has seen the rapper acting, implying that his interview about the death of his fiancée Nelli Tembe was all just an act…

After rapper AKA revealed he is starring in South African film Nandi, a tweep claimed on 2 November that his “tell-all” interview with Thembekile Mrototo about his late fiancée earlier this year, already showed his “acting skills”.

AKA IN ‘NANDI’

On Tuesday 2 November, AKA announced that he will be starring in his friend Alessio Bettocchi’s film Nandi.

Nandi is a 90-minute-long feature film shot in Johannesburg. The film tells the story of a young girl who runs away with her junkie boyfriend but gets herself into several violent encounters forcing her to return home.

“When a young runaway and her junkie boyfriend steal a bag of drugs, a series of violent confrontations ensue forcing her to return home after years of estrangement,” reads the synopsis of the film.

In the trailer posted to AKA’s Instagram and Twitter account, he is seen acting in a scene alongside Scandal star Lorcia Cooper.

“Check out the trailer ???? for “NANDI” … produced by none other than my homie Alessio Bettocchi ???????? . Congrats on your first film champ! Looking forward to seeing it! And oh yeah … peep your boi’s like a cameo too! Had lots of fun shooting it. COMING SOON! ????,” wrote AKA on Twitter.

TWEEP CLAIMS AKA WAS ‘ACTING’ IN HIS ‘TELL-ALL’ INTERVIEW

While most of the Fela in Versace hitmaker’s fans and followers were happy for him, others dragged him in the comments section. A tweep sarcastically mentioned that he has seen AKA act before — on his “tell-all” interview with Thembekile Mrototo.

“This was the first time i saw you act and you killed it, can’t wait????????,” commented a Tweep sharing a screenshot of the “tell-all” interview.

In May, Mrototo had the first sit-down interview with the rapper since his late fiancée Anele “Nelli” Tembe passed away on 11 April. While on holiday with AKA in Cape Town, Nelli plunged to her death from the tenth floor of the Pepperclub Hotel. Nelli was said to be only 22 years old.

After the interview aired on YouTube, Tweeps were divided on whether they thought AKA was telling the truth or not. However, the interview was reportedly what cleared the rapper’s name in the investigation.

“After the interview, the matter was closed by the SAPS and handed over to the NPA for review. The NPA then reverted and said this was a suicide investigation and what (the police) had provided had elements (of there being) a suspect of murder,” said the source City Press.
