Trevor Noah dragged over silence about #FreeJacobZuma protests

Trevor Noah has found his name on many lips as locals wonder aloud why he’s said nothing about the #FreeJacobZuma protests.

One thing South African-born comedian and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah woke up to today, was a number of shady tweets from his fellow South Africans.

Many of them wanted to know why he was so unusually quiet about the #FreeJacobZuma protests that have wreaked havoc in Johannesburg and KwaZulu-Natal.

#FreeJacobZuma protests: Why so quiet, Trevor?

In various online tweets, South Africans criticised the comedian for remaining silent while many jobs are being lost and lives endangered due to protests which have turned into looting sprees and riots.

“Your silence is deafening @Trevornoah @TheDailyShow. Are you starting to realize that your fav @CyrilRamaphosa is a complete and utter failure?” wrote @UptownZulu.

Noah fans say #FreeJacobZuma protests not his business

While Noah was being dragged for not saying anything, many of his die-hard fans wasted no time standing by their favourite comedian regarding his silence over the #FreeJacobZuma protests. A lot of them wondered out loud what exactly people expected him to say.

“I am genuinely confused by how the thought process of some of y’all works, y’all are now trying to bash Trevor Noah for not talking about SAs current situation like y’all didn’t attack Thuso Mbedu 2 days ago for tweeting ‘South Africa is burning’,” a tweep wrote.

Naturally, many people also found a way to add some humour to the #FreeJacobZuma protest situation and laughed over the fact that Noah probably has so many new content ideas for his next show after he witnessed everything that happened in SA over the last few days.

Locals beg Trevor Noah to please ‘adopt them’

While this may have been considered a bizarre ask a few years ago, we completely understand why more peaceful locals have taken the road less travelled and decided to ask Noah to just “adopt them”.

“Hey @Trevornoah, I’ve been meaning to tell you, I’m your half brother please come fetch me,” wrote @SirMyles

When you consider how the pandemic and now the #FreeJacobZuma protests have impacted the country, it’s easy to understand why so many people would love to escape and who better to escape with than Mzansi’s very own Trevor Noah?
