South Africans were left reeling by the news of a stabbing that occurred outside Rivonia nightclub, Madison Avenue.

17-year-old King Edward VII School pupil Hlompho Mbetse was involved in an altercation outside the club and was stabbed shortly after security guards at the club managed to break the fight apart.

It is reported that the fight was stopped and shortly afterward Hlompho started walking down the road where he was stabbed to death.

TimesLive reported that paramedics arrived to find the teen who was later announced dead at the hospital. The club released a statement regarding the incident and claimed they had tried to help Hlompho and that he had died a fair distance away from the premises.

Trevor Gumbi later took to his Instagram where he shared his thoughts regarding the club’s statement on the matter. According to Trevor, they should be held accountable for allowing underage pupils in without checking their age. Trevor also added that his own son also went to the club and was allowed in without any hassle.

“Firstly, did all 20 or more kids under the age of 18 enter your establishment with a fake ID? I can bring at least seven of the kids that know for a fact entered with no damn hassle including my 16-year-old son.

You turned a blind f*cking eye to pump up your profits. Secondly, your bouncers chucked Hlompho out after beating him up and damaging his phone.”

He also went on to slam the bouncers for not diffusing the situation as responsible adults. He also says that the bouncers at the club just stood by and let Hlompho die, adding that they could have arranged for the teen to be taken to the hospital and not waited for the ambulance.
