Tory Lanez gets convincted for shooting Megan Thee Stallion’s feet

Tory Lanez will be sentenced on 27 January 2023. He faced three charges of carrying a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

Tory Lanez was convicted of three felony counts after shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020 following a heated altercation between the rappers.

According to AP, the rappers had gotten into an exchange of words after Megan Thee Stallion insulted Lanez’s music. In retaliation, the In For It rapper fired shots at the back of Megan’s feet five times from the passenger side of an SUV (sport utility vehicle). He then instructed her to dance, the report said.

THE TRIAL: HOW DID MEGAN AND LANEZ BEEF PLAY OUT IN COURT?

According to TMZ, a jury consisting of seven women and five men in downtown Los Angeles found Lanez guilty of carrying a “semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.”

The Canadian-born rapper faces over 20 years of imprisonment and could also be deported.

The trial lasted two weeks and the verdict was read after two days of deliberation, the New York Times reported

The defendant had been out on bail during the course of the trial on house arrest. This time, the court took Lanez into custody.  

“GOD WILL JUDGE YOU:” THE FINAL VERDICT

According to the AP news, the Say It rapper was scheduled to be sentenced on 27 January 2023. At his judgement, Lanez came dressed in a powder pink coat with matching pants. He was reported to have been motionless during the course of the trial until the end when his father heard the verdict and directed an outburst at the judge.

 “God will judge you,” The New York Times quoted Lanez’s father Sonstar Peterson as saying.

“This wicked system stands judged before God almighty,” he added as reported by AP.

Moments later, the Jerry Sprunger rapper was put into handcuffs and led down to jail. Lanez’s son and three other young children watched from the front row of the courtroom.

Megan The Stallion was not present in court during the reading of the verdict. She has since had surgery to remove the bullet fragments in both of her feet.

In a statement, Megan’s lawyer Alex Spiro said that he was thankful that justice was served for his client.
