The grilling is far from over as Cake Media demands AKA retract his statements about The Braai Show. Through his legal team Tailormade Legal Solutions, the Fela in Versace rapper had claimed that he owned 50% of The Braai Show, but Cake Media has since said this isn’t true.

CAKE MEDIA DEMANDS AKA TO RETRACT

According to Daily Sun Cake Media released a statement on Saturday, demanding the rapper retract all statements made about The Braai Show. The production company also demands that AKA apologise for the “damage” he has caused to the show.

The deadline for AKA to retract his statement was Monday, 16 August at 13:00.

Cake Media also emphasised that AKA does not own a 50% share in The Braai Show. They noted AKA’s claim as incorrect and malicious.

“Essentially, the action points out that Kiernan Forbes (AKA) has no copyright claims as the show was conceived wholly by MakhuduCom; Forbes’ primary agreement with MakhuduCom applied to the AKA TV app and came post the creation of the show.”

AKA VS MAKHUDU COM

The statement mentions that Makhudu Com approached production company BarLeader TV, to transform The Braai Show into a television show. The agreement between Makhudu Com and BarLeader TV came to an end on 12 March 2020.

Cake Media further highlights that AKA might’ve misunderstood their agreement.

“It is clear from a consideration of your letters that your client has relied on a flawed and legally impermissible interpretation of the various agreements concluded by the various parties.”

AKA’S MANAGEMENT RESPONDS

In response to the statement sent out by Cake Media, the rapper’s management acknowledged receipt and said they are not at liberty to discuss their legal standings.

“We will however note that at no point was our client appropriately engaged, as stipulated in the contract and all these changes took place at a time that he is grieving and had engaged the public and all his business partners/affiliations that he was temporarily taking a step back.”
