TAMARYN GREEN ON MULTIPLE WEDDING CELEBRATIONS

Miss South Africa 2018 Tamaryn Green-Nxumalo took to Instagram to explain why she and her husband Zesimdumise “Ze” Nxumalo had multiple wedding celebrations. Tamaryn explained that she and Ze come from two different cultures. So, they decided to embrace all the traditions and rituals required by both cultures.

“As Ze & I come from different cultures, we decided to embrace all traditions and rituals required by both cultures to be married. In western society there is traditionally an engagement, followed by a kitchen tea/bachelorette or bachelors, then finally the white wedding,” she wrote.

“A traditional Zulu wedding is quite different, but also has distinctive stages. First a proposal happens and once the girl says yes to the guys proposal, Lobola negotiations take place,” she continued.

“There is slaughtering of cows & sheep to welcome the Makoti(bride). The Nxumalo’s dressed in the traditional clothes, Zulu skins & performed Zulu dancing. The brides family sings their traditional songs, the brides father hands over his daughter to the grooms family,” she wrote.

“The traditional Induna plays a role of marriage officer. The girl declares publicly again she loves her husband and the husband the same. Gifts are then distributed to the grooms family = Umabo. The festivities are concluded and the marriage begins.❤️,” she continued.

The pair had their “white wedding” in April this year. This followed their “umembeso” ceremony in October 2021.
