What went wrong?

The couple more formally known as The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not been living in Britain since their much-publicized separation from the rest of the royal family. The drama between The Sussexes and the rest of the House of Windsor has been a long-playing soap opera that escalated with the release of Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, which revealed a lot of scandalous claims about not only his life but also his relationship with his father and his older brother, the current Prince of Wales, Prince William.

The book was preceded by a Netflix docuseries that provided a glimpse into the lives of the Duke and Duchess and like the book, the docuseries was met with a lot of harsh criticism, especially in the British media which have called the couple opportunistic. The fact that The Sussexes received invites might mean that the royal family is ready to sit down with Prince Harry to talk things through, which is something that Prince Harry has been keen to do.

Sussexes get coronation invites or an olive branch?

The coronation which will take place on 6 May will be the first official event that Prince Harry and Meghan will be seen together with the rest of the royal family since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II who passed away in September last year should the invites be accepted. This could also be the olive branch that fans of The Sussexes have been waiting for especially since the family was evicted from Frogmore House was their official British residence. The cottage has now been offered to a fellow disgraced family member, Prince Andrew who was also making headlines for his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein saga.
