‘Succession’ star Kieran Culkin reveals the origins of his daughter’s name

Kieran Culkin named his daughter after the teenage stranger who witnessed his wedding.
The Succession actor married Jazz Charlton in 2013 after several months of dating but the pair never had a definite plan for their big day as they just decided to tie the knot at some point on a three-month road trip, in a state where same-sex marriage was legal.

KIERAN CULKIN’S UNCONVENTIONAL WEDDING
Culkin recalled: “We packed the car with rings, her wedding dress and my suit and just drove across the country for three months, thinking we’ll get married somewhere.”
And the couple ended up exchanging vows under an oak tree in Decorah, Iowa, with an 18-year-old named Kinsey, who they met in a local cafe, as their witness.
“[We were by] a tiny white church with a red door on top of a hill. We pulled up in the pouring rain – she’s got her wedding dress on and I’ve got my tux – and the moment we were married the rain stopped and the clouds parted and there was a rainbow – I’m not s******* you – a giant rainbow right over the valley we were looking at,” he continued.
KIERAN CULKIN WAS IMPRESSED BY HIS WITNESS
Of their witness, he added to the Telegraph magazine:
“Before she agreed to it she asked all these questions – how we met and what kind of people we were. She said, ‘I just wanted to check that you guys were in love before I put my name on a legal document.’
“And we thought, ‘Wow, this 18-year-old girl has got her s*** together way more than the two of us.’ Very impressive and cool.
“Then a couple of days later we were talking about her and I said, ‘We should name our daughter after her.’ “
The couple now has a two-year-old daughter, who is known by her nickname, Zissou, but was officially named Kinsey Sioux, with her middle name shared with that of Culkin’s beloved late sister Dakota.
The 39-year-old actor and his wife also welcomed a son into the world in August, but have yet to settle on a name for the tot.
