Siyamthanda (Siya) Kolisi is undoubtedly one of the best rugby players South Africa has seen. After leading the Springboks to a third World Cup title in 2019, everyone wants a piece of Kolisi.

The 31-years old spent his early childhood years in Zwide, located just outside Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. His mother was 16 years old, and his father was in matric at the time, Zalebs reported.

Kolisi reportedly attended Emsengeni Primary School, where he fell in love with rugby.

His extraordinary talents on the field were noticed at a youth tournament where he got an opportunity to participate in the Eastern Province Under-1B tournament.

On the field, Kolisi was scouted at 12 years old and offered a scholarship that took care of all his expenses and afforded him a chance to study at the prestigious Grey Junior School and Grey High School.

His mother, unfortunately, died when he was 15 and never saw her son play on national or provincial teams.

In 2012, Kolisi made his big break when he joined the DHL Stormers, a Western Province team and helped the team win a Curie Cup for the first time in 11 years.

In 2013, Kolisi made his big break and played for the Springboks.

In 2017, he was chosen as the new captain of the Stormers and vice-captain of the Springboks.

In 2018, Kolisi was made the Springboks captain and became the first black captain of the Springboks in its 126-year history, Opera News reported
