South African social media users have been left teary-eyed after seeing a heartwarming post about Simphiwe “Sim Dope” Gumede. The son of South African billionaire Robert Gumede, was a close friend of late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and continues to support the family despite AKA being no more.

Photos of the young Gumede accompanying AKA’s parents Tony and Lynn Forbes to the rapper’s grave following his big Metro FM Awards win have been widely circulated as locals gush over his loyalty to AKA.

Sim Dope visits AKA’s grave with Forbes family

Shortly after the passing of AKA who was killed outside Wish Restaurant in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, his friendship with Simphiwe Gumede came to light.

Thousands of the rapper’s fans were surprised to learn that his song Sim Dope was actually a song about his wealthy friend.

While the wealthy young man maintains a low profile and often shies away from the spotlight, he has made sure to support the Forbes family as they grieve the loss of AKA.

Last weekend, AKA walked away as the Metro FM Awards biggest winner after bagging four accolades posthumously.

To celebrate his biggest award take away in history, his family — along with Sim Dope — visited his graveside to present the awards to him.

The post warmed the hearts of many AKA fans who love Sim Dope’s supportive and quiet nature. Many have commented on his loyalty to the Forbes family.
