Earlier this week US singer Britney Spears announced her engagement to her model/actor boyfriend, Sam Asghari. Not long after sharing the exciting news, the Piece of Me singer was bombarded with warnings from her supporters to make sure she gets a prenup. US actress Octavia Spencer was among those people.

The actress has since apologised for her “joke.”

Octavia Spencer backtracks on her Britney Spears engagement prenup joke

Ma actress Octavia Spencer is one of the thousands of people who warned Britney Spears to make sure she protects her assets by getting a prenup following her recent engagement announcement.

Fitness instructor and model Sam Asghari popped the question with a gorgeous custom-made ring and Britney said yes. But instead of congratulatory messages, the couple were bombarded with talk about a prenuptial agreement.

Taking it in his stride, Sam joked about the prenup on his IG stories but we guess Octavia Spencer couldn’t help but feel guilty because she soon apologised to Britney and Sam by saying that she was only joking and didn’t mean to rain on their parade.

According to TMZ, Octavia issued a private apology to the couple because her “intention was to make them laugh not cause pain” she also said that she is hoping to “restore just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of by the joke.

“Y’all, a few days ago Sam and Britney announced their engagement and me being me I made a joke. My intention was to make them laugh not cause pain.

“I’ve reached out to this lovely couple privately to apologize and now want to restore just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of. Britney’s fans have seen her through a lot of pain and she’s found happiness. We’re thrilled for her. So let’s show them love. ???????? #nonegativity

Sam laughs it off…again

Sam Asghari has also spoken up about Octavia’s apology and still doesn’t think the joke was a big deal. Responding publicly about the apology he wrote:

“You are very kind to clarify but I have no hard feelings whatsoever. Jokes and misconceptions come with the territory.”

Meanwhile, the popstar takes a “social media break”

Britney has also since deactivated her social media accounts so that she can take some time to celebrate and enjoy her recent engagement.

We’re not sure when the star will be making a comeback but we’re sure her millions of fans can’t wait to see what kind of nudes she’s be posting next.
