PRINCESS OF WALES’ SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO THE LATE PRINCESS DIANA

All eyes might have been on King Charles III and Queen Camilla during their royal coronation, but the Princess of Wales surprised royal fans with her choice of earrings.

In a possible subtle but sweet tribute to her late mother-in-law, the Princess of Wales wore Princess Diana’s pearl and diamond earrings to the royal coronation service held at Westminster Abbey earlier today.

According to The Sun, she paired the earrings with the George VI Festoon Necklace.

The necklace was made in 1950 at the request of King George VI for his daughter, Princess Elizabeth, who was crowned Queen in 1953, the publication reports.

Fans were quick to spot the nod to the late Princess of Wales.

Her choice of necklace, many believe, was in tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth. She loved to wear the necklace for special events.

“Princess Kate and Princess Charlotte stole the show! They both looked stunning. Noticeably, the Spencers weren’t invited to the coronation, despite having a long connection with the royal family. Still, Kate made sure Diana wasn’t forgotten by wearing earrings,” one fan tweeted.

But not everyone agrees that Kate’s choice of jewelry was intentional.

“Stop comparing Kate to Lady Di. Kate wore a tiara and earrings because they belong to the British crown. She didn’t go looking for Diana’s jewelry and used it as a tribute. It is what corresponds, part of the wardrobe delivered by Royal Protocol,” another tweeted.

MATCHING MOM-AND-DAUGHTER MOMENT

Princess Charlotte looked like her mother’s ‘mini me’ as the ladies of Wales stepped out in matching dresses for the royal coronation.

Both wore ivory silk crepe Alexander McQueen dresses for the celebrations, as per The Sun.

Kate and Charlotte’s outfits also reportedly featured a subtle nod to the United Kingdom in the embroidery.

According to reports, their dresses featured rose, thistle, daffodil, and shamrock motifs to symbolize the four nations; England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Kate wore a Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen Headpiece with silver bullion, crystal, threadwork, and three-dimensional leaf embroidery.

Princess Charlotte wore a matching headpiece by the same designer.
