WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE ‘RHOWL’ MEGA-MANSION CALLED ‘ENIGMA’

The magnificent yet interesting house sprawls over 7 000 square meters of pine forest on the foothills of Table Mountain. Gloria Arendz and her Swiss husband, Rolf Theiler, bought the property for R99 million in 2015. According to reports, the mansion was initially sold for R300 million, but the price dropped to R99 million when the Theiler’s scooped it up.

Originally built by German businessman Francis Schnetzler, four houses were, according to City Press, demolished to make way for the estate.

The publication reports that Schnetzler’s Czech wife, Veronika Schnetzlerova, was a former porn star, and the house was built and designed as a shrine to her past.

Viewers of the Real Housewives van die Wynlande can attest to the many naked portraits and murals all over the house. Anita Lloyd was particularly taken with the burgundy velvet wallpaper in the cinema room.

After buying the property, Gloria told the Sunday Times she had no plans to change the house’s interior.

“Knowing the creativity and history that went into this house, I definitely will not be changing anything,” she told the publication.

INSIDE THE MASSIVE PROPERTY

The house boasts gold-plated doors and a swimming pool tiled with a Versace logo. Then there’s the sauna, gym, teahouse, massage temple, 3D cinema, staff quarters, and herb and vegetable garden.

But Gloria did make one change. The Sunday Times reports she moved the naked portraits of Schnetzler’s wife from the lobby and pool area to the gym.

According to ourglorioushomes.com, the Enigma mansion is available for national and international commercials. Fashion/beauty films, photo shoots, and mainstream movie productions can be done there.

The Enigma Residence and the Enigma Guesthouse are also available for short-term rentals.
