The sequence of events on 14 February 2013 surrounding Oscar Pistorius and his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, left many in shock and confusion – but according to the model’s mother Ju,ne, she “knew” what was going to happen.

The Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation founder claims that her daughter predicted her own death – at the tender age of 14 years old.

The disturbing revelation was made during episode one of M-Net’s three-part docu-series My Name Is Reeva.

The Port Elizabeth model was gunned down nine years ago at her Paralympian boyfriend’s Pretoria home.

REEVA STEENKAMP’S PREMONITION PAINTINGS

Speaking on camera, June Steenkamp recalls the eerie paintings Reeva had created as a young girl.

And the distraught mom strongly believes that her daughter knew her time on Earth was limited.

She said: “She knew she was going to die, she did know. She did those paintings when she was 14 and we didn’t really understand anything about them, but the colours were so vivid that we put them in our kitchen.

“We didn’t actually catch on that in one he [Oscar] was standing with a gun in a field that they were in. She was standing next to stairs going up to heaven and she had big angel wings. She knew about death”.

In another piece, Reeva painted a picture of her “sitting scared” . This, claimed June, was a “premonition” of the scene from her death behind a locked toilet door in Pistorius’s home. She added: “Just blood, red blood on the other side. So that was the whole story of what happened to her. She knew what was going to happen to her”.

In addition to being an avid painter, Reeva also loved horse-riding and her nine dogs.

PISTORIUS NOW ELIGIBLE FOR PAROLE

After a much publicised trial, Oscar Pistorius was convicted of culpable homicide in December 2015. He was handed a six-year prison sentence. However, his charge was changed to murder, and his jail term increased to 13 years following an unsuccessful appeal in November 2017.

The 35-year-old is now eligible for parole after serving half his sentence.

On 22 June, Oscar met with Reeva Steenkamp’s father, Barry, as part of the Correctional Service’s “Victim Offender Dialogue” in the parole process.

June rejected the opportunity to face her daughter’s killer.

She said in the episode: “I don’t want to see him again ever. I would have been feeling ill and afraid. I’m not sure why afraid”.

In the second instalment of the docu-series which will be aired on Thursday 1 September, we can expect to hear what transpired in the meeting between Reeva’s father and Oscar Pistorius.
