THULI PHONGOLO WITHDRAWS CHARGES AGAINST DJ MAPHORISA

On Monday, after appearing at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court, music producer DJ Maphorisa was granted R4 000 bail. This comes after the former Generations: The Legacy actresss‘ claims that he assaulted her at her home in Sandton, Johannesburg, the day before.

According to City Press, Thuli alleged in a police statement that Maphorisa became aggressive and punched her on her chest. He also allegedly slapped her across the face.

“He held me and took me to the balcony, and grabbed me aggressively by my neck,” the statement read.

The 29-year-old actress reportedly sustained bruises on her neck, chest, arms and right cheek.

However, on Monday, the court heard that Thuli had filed a withdrawal statement – meaning she does not want to continue with the case and wants the charges dropped.

Thuli’s plea, however, has not yet been finalised as the NPA will still investigate, among other things, if she did not file the withdrawal under duress. The case has been postponed to 14 June.
